As an SME, DPC Contracts likes to champion the cause of home-grown talent and private sector growth primarily driven through SMEs. It is reassuring to see in the newly published report by Lord Young that there has not only been continued growth but an exponential increase in the number of SMEs. This report by the government’s Enterprise Advisor, reviews the changing face of small businesses in the UK. It finds that during the last five years, the number of small firms in the UK increased from 760,000 to a record 5.2m. It examines the impact of the internet in helping people to turn business ideas into new enterprises, as well as the way in which mobile internet access via smart-phones and tablets has made it easier for business owners to reach customers and make sales. Steve Woolley, External Affairs Manager at CIM, discusses the report on LinkedIn.
